How to play FivLet

The basics

FivLet is an AI-powered word guessing game. Each game generates a unique 5-letter word and a custom clue created by Google Gemini in real time. No two games are ever the same.

Your goal is to guess the secret word in 4 tries or fewer, using the clue as your guide.

Step by step

1. Read the clue. Every game starts with an AI-generated clue. It describes the word without giving it away directly. Use it to narrow down your options.

2. Type your guess. Enter any 5-letter word and click Guess (or press Enter). Letters only — no numbers or symbols.

3. Check the used letters. After each guess, the letters you've tried appear at the bottom — green means the letter is in the word, red means it isn't. Use this to rule out letters on your next guess.

4. Use hints wisely. You get 2 hints per game. Each hint reveals one letter in its correct position. Save them for when you're stuck.

5. Win or lose. Guess correctly and you win — confetti included. Run out of guesses and the word is revealed. Either way, a new game starts automatically after 3 seconds.

Difficulty modes

Standard — everyday vocabulary suitable for most players. Clues are direct and accessible.

Difficult — advanced vocabulary and more abstract clues. For players who want a real challenge.

Switch difficulty using the toggle at the top of the game. Switching mid-game starts a new game.

Daily limits

Guest players get 3 free games per day. Signed-in users get 5. FivLet Premium members get unlimited games every day.

Leaderboards

Premium members with a username can compete on daily, weekly, and monthly leaderboards. Every correct guess counts as a win. Rankings reset daily at midnight UTC, weekly on Monday, and monthly on the 1st.

Tips for winning

• Read the clue carefully before guessing — it always points toward the answer.
• Start with common letters like R, S, T, L, N, E to eliminate or confirm quickly.
• Watch the used letters panel — it's your best tool for narrowing down options.
• Save hints for your 3rd or 4th guess when you're close but stuck.
• Try Difficult mode once you're comfortable — the clues are genuinely tricky.
